(corporate and social events)
S.C.A.C. has been approached by a number of corporate and social event organisers for have-a-go sessions. These have enabled anyone of any age or ability to try a sport seldom seen. We are able to cater for the very young to the very old with expert and friendly coaching always provided. The club has been holding have-a-go sessions at Middleton Hall near Tamworth, Middleton Village Fete, South Staffs Water corporate event, WI Midlands Group, Sutton Girls School, Bishop Vesey’s sports groups, Y.M.C.A. (summer Project),The Parkinson Society and local schools summer fetes.
The club has been commended for its professional approach to all corporate events, be it a scout group for two hours or a stately home for two days, so much so we are often invited to return and, have been recommended to others.

Sutton Coldfield Archery Club Aim for Paris 2024

In summer 2024, Sutton Coldfield Archery Club hosted two events with an Aim for Paris flavour. The first event was at our ground where we had a very enthusiastic group from the Women’s Institute. This was not the first time we had hosted the WI and we are always impressed by their competitive zeal when they pick up a bow. t was a good natured, friendly evening following the format of basic instruction, practice and competition. We made use of the Aim for Paris bunting which was festooned between the bosses and we were pleased to share Aim for Paris certificates.
Sutton Coldfield Archery Club has for many years supported a local village fair at Middleton. This is a major undertaking for the club as we have to transport the equipment and run the event through the fair. We make a small charge and introduce visitors to the sport of archery with a one to one controlled have a go. There will always be a full range of age ability – we have some very small bows for pre-school children, friendly competitions between groups of friends and delight in seeing visitors of advanced age pick up a bow and shoot away.
With Aim for Paris very much in our minds we had a board with Olympic Archery logos, an article to describe the Olympic Archery Format and pictures of previous Olympic competitions. We used the Aim for Paris bunting and certificates and awarded medals which were 3D printed by one of our members. We do not usually allow heavy bows on the site but we did have one Olympic style recurve bow to show the public and to help to explain the sport. There was one novelty target face with the Olympic Rings – hit five rings with six arrows to win a medal! (Actually we ended up giving a medal for enthusiastic attempts rather than all
five rings).
