At Sutton Archery Club, we prioritise safety by requiring all new members to complete a beginners course before joining. We conduct six major beginners courses each year, with each course spanning six weeks (May to July). The first three weeks focus on small group training led by qualified ArcheryGB coaches, emphasising basic shooting techniques and safety. The final three weeks introduce participants to target archery, where they can enhance their skills through general supervision and coaching, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved.

If you’re interested in attending one of the courses, please specify which course you’d like to join, along with alternative preferences in case your first choice is full. Note that the courses last for six weeks and are held on the back field; if you can’t attend for a full three weeks due to reasons like weather, holidays, or work, we will carry over the program for that week.

Introduction To Archery (beginners courses) – booking form for 2025

Our courses at Sutton Archery Club accommodate a maximum of sixteen participants** to ensure personalised instruction and attention. If you’re unable to attend any of the six sessions due to factors like weather, holidays, or work commitments, we offer the flexibility to carry over the missed week’s program, allowing you to complete the course at your own pace.

**juniors must be at least 11 years old to participate in shooting activities, with the requirement that they are supervised by a parent or responsible adult throughout the duration of their involvement

We recommend that participants wear comfortable, well-fitted clothing while avoiding loose garments, and tie back long hair for safety. Although a belt to clip on a quiver is helpful, it is not mandatory; please also refrain from wearing open-toed shoes or sandals (archery and wiggly toes do not mix). Rest assu1red, no additional equipment is necessary, as we will provide everything you need for an enjoyable archery session.

During the summer months, we offer taster sessions and small courses on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9, depending on coach availability. In winter, booking form September to April, we transition to indoor shooting but face space limitations, which means the number of beginners joining during summer will directly impact the availability of spaces for all participants.

**non-shooting days at the rugby club due to scheduled events ** 27th April junior rugby tournament no access until 2.00pm / 25th May music festival / 10th August "inflatables" returning across that weekend.
