Hi

Sorry but Winter is here 😷

Because of Social distancing shooting is by invitation only, if you have not been allocated a slot and want one please contact me by email. Attached is the current Allocation timetable, which is subject to change as more archers request shooting slots. If for any reason you cannot attend please let me know urgently so the slot can be re allocated as each weekday slot costs the club £7.50.

For weekday shooting slots the club expects a contribution of £1 per session.

Winter Weekday shooting is Tuesday and Friday evening from 1800 to 2100 and starts Tuesday 8thSeptember 2020. Please bear in mind on the first Tuesday there will be an amount of marking up and setting up to be done.

Weekday shooting is at Fairfax Academy, address and pictorial directions are below.

Fairfax Academy, Fairfax Road, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham B75 7JT

Access is via the Gate 3 entrance on Fairfax Road, the gates will not be open before 1745.

Please leave the parking nearest to the Sports Hall entrance available for less mobile members.

There is plenty of park adjacent to the Sports Hall and toilet facilities are part of the building.

The entrance to the Sports Hall is on the left as you enter the building, fire exits are clearly marked at both ends of the Sports Hall. The fire muster point is on the main playground visible from the Sports Hall.

You will need to bring your own PPE mask and gloves. The PPE must be worn from the car park and for the whole time when in the building other than when actually shooting. Please bring more robust gloves for handling bosses etc.

Indoor layout

The nets and Bosses are to be located at the far end of the hall. The nets are to be placed to cover shooting on the central bosses. This is where the least experience archers will be allocated lanes.

The initial setup is for a Portsmouth round. The nets are to be placed 1 metre from the far wall and Bosses 2 metres in from the far wall. Bosses are to be spaced 1 metre in from the side walls and 2 metres between the edges of each boss, this allows for 2 metre social distancing. The Shooting line will be placed 18 metres from the bosses and Waiting line 3 metres behind the Shooting line. Marker tape will be placed on the side walls of the sports hall to indicate the distances.

It is essential archers stick to their own lanes wherever possible, this however cannot be achieved when setting up the Field, it will also be difficult the maintain Social Distancing when collecting arrows and at the waiting line, which is why PPE must be worn in the Sports hall.

We have been allocated limited storage attached to the side of the Sports Hall, so need to be neat and stick to our allocated area, this is a shared space therefore we cannot leave valuables.

We will be shooting in two details with a single archer per detail. The collection of arrows and scoring will be done by the archer and will be done in specific rotation.

The first detail archer from lane 1, 3 and 5 will collect and score their arrows. The second detail archer from lane 1, 3 and 5 will collect and score their arrows. Lanes 2, 4 and 6 will repeat this process. If you have any physical limitations regarding setup or arrow collection please let me know so this can be accommodated.

Sunday shooting at the Rugby field is on Afternoons only and starts at 1 p.m. and follows the same procedures as the last few months.
